Well, since I was living in California and rather than have a mortgage I was paying rent for so many years (I had moved to the sunny city when I was 18), I decided that it would do no harm to speak to a banker about the possibility of me getting a California mortgage. I wanted to see at least if I was eligible for a California mortgage. Apparently I was. I had savings and that would enable me to put down a down payment on a house in California and within less than 2 weeks of my initial enquiry, I had my own California mortgage! Life was good and I was happy that I would be able to fulfill my childhood dream of having my own home in California.
