I had been living in this great house for about four and a half years in California that I had been renting from a really pleasant old man. Unfortunately, over the last three or four months, I had found termites and knew the house was falling down. Much as I loved living in this particular spot in California and I knew the rent was higher in other areas and by other landlords, I knew (since the landlord told me he was not prepared to do anything about it), that I had to move. I thought about looking in to the possibility of getting one of those California mortgages but was too scared. What if I could not afford it? What if I was thrown out on to the streets? There were simply so many what ifs. But I simply could not stay where I was and so many of my friends were so happy with their California mortgages that I thought I just had to (at least) look in to getting myself a mortgage.

So I spoke to some mortgage advisors and found that California mortgages were really quite a good idea. There was nothing wrong at all with getting one of those California mortgages and it would mean I could get a house in the perfect location (i.e., where I was now). Getting one of those California mortgages actually ultimately meant that I would be paying less per month than renting in my California house! I was delighted and knew I had nothing to worry about.
