Stay out of trouble; get a California mortgage from a trustworthy rep

You know that there are a lot of people out there you do not want to be borrowing money from, right? Be careful. A friend of mine took out a bad mortgage (her insurance guy was not trustworthy, it turned out) and got herself into trouble. Eventually she managed to get a refinance, but her life was so stressful before that. In California, there are great places to get a mortgage and not so great places so check out all your options first. I love living in California and so when it came time for me to take out my first California mortgage, I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. It for sure would be great to have equity in California.

Get manageable monthly payments on your California mortgage

The other thing to bear in mind when purchasing property in California (or anywhere for that matter) is that your payments must be manageable. In California though, I guess this is especially true since standards of living can be high there. So when you decide which California mortgage to take, bear that in mind and make sure you have done your budgeting before signing anything. At the end of the day, with the right people, getting a California mortgage is not scary or bad at all; getting a California mortgage is just a great way to have equity, but get the right people to help you.
