My father was a banker, who did a lot of work with mortgages, and he was always smarter than me. It helped me a lot in elementary school. I always had the best science fair projects and the highlight of every year was the trip to my father's bank. He always let me open the safe. I was the coolest kid in the class. But as I got older, it was hard having such a smart father. I wanted to make my own decisions too. I graduated collage, got married to the prettiest girl in the class and bought a new house in rural California. And then all I heard in every phone conversation with my dad was, "A California mortgage? Refinance now not later!"

Now I'm the father and I'm the one saying, "A California mortgage ? Refinance now not later!"

I listened eventually. I guess Dad's message, "A California mortgage? Refinance now not later!" finally hit me. And now I see that always listening to him is the smartest thing to do. We were able to close in on a very low rate and that has helped us pay our bills and stay on top. I myself have followed in the paths of my father and started working in California real estate.
